Samsung Announces HD Radio Chip Delivery Schedule
This silicon news is actually rather significant for the future of HD Radio: Samsung will release its new HD Radio chips in early 2008, with the focus being on mobile and portable devices. iBiquity desperately needs low-power, small-format, CMOS (read: cheapest silicon production process) chips for their manufacturing partners to deliver HD Radio in MP3 players, cell phones, and battery-powered small-format portable AM/FM radios. These chips were originally expected to be delivered in 2007, based on the information I had late last year.
